The Fireplace

The Fireplace is an interactive installation that renders an individual's environmental impact as digital art. Floating black particles stand for the carbon emissions and pollution each person generates, multiplying as the audience participates so that the scale of human activity becomes visible in real time. Built with Processing and Arduino and delivered through projection, the work turns an issue usually too enormous and abstract to feel personal into an immediate visual metaphor, inviting viewers to consider how their own actions accumulate into the larger picture. Exhibited as part of Future Cave at Metre Squared, London.
